Description
Statistics show Christianity as the fastest-growing religion in the world. As we welcome the upward global trend, we should not lose sight of the fact that being born of God is more than religion. To be born of God is to be in a relationship with God eternally through His Son. This is not to talk any religion down but to stress that being in eternal relationship with God leads to eternal life. Religion is corruptible and limiting in the sense that it is not eternal, and therefore, does not lead to eternal life.
As born-again Christians, we are not born of the corruptible seed but the incorruptible seed through the living word of God, which lives and abides forever. Because we are born of God and believe in His Son, we have eternal life. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16 NKJV).
Eternal life is God's ultimate purpose for our lives. Walking in newness of life indicates our eternal relationship with God, which starts here on earth at spiritual rebirth through His Son and continues further as we walk in newness of life. "And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life" (1 John 5:20 NKJV).
This book does not explain the psychology of religion, and it does not delve into different types of religions. But to show God's goodness and righteousness, I have pointed out the shortcomings of Adam and Eve, and those of the Israelites, who never survived the sword in the wilderness. Furthermore, I provided guidance on how one can walk in newness of life. "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4 NKJV).
God's grace did not start at the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and stopped at His Resurrection, so that we may receive salvation, and from that day forward, rely on our own works of the law to try and please God. God's grace did not start at the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and stopped at His Resurrection, so that we may receive salvation, and from that day forward, go back to doctrines founded on commandments of men or traditions of men. "For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God" (Galatians 2:18–19 NKJV).
In this book, it is made clear that salvation is not a once-off event but is a journey in the Spirit that requires us to walk in newness of life. We walk in the Spirit; thus, walking in newness of life when we acknowledge and embrace God's grace, having faith in Jesus Christ, who causes us to will and do for God's good pleasure. "For it is God (Jesus Christ) who works in you both to will and to do for His (God's) "emphasis mine" good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13 NKJV).
I recommend this book as a must-read for every born-again Christian, and for every person who desires to live for God daily because it encourages, and provides guidance on how one can walk in newness of life to the glory of God. "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4 NKJV).
